My English

Learning English at university has been complicated, the academic load in the other subjects makes the attention I put to English less and less. I try to practice talking to my best friend, but I don't see many results hahaha. The use of blog can be very beneficial, but it makes it possible to fall into the use of translator and only write to meet, not to learn. I must admit that several times I have used the translator :(. The aspects that I must improve, is the writing and speaking. More writing than talking. I can read in English and understand what they tell me (sometimes xD). I've been told that my pronunciation is good, but I just feel like I speak without the "r", which nothing else changes. However, my English when I entered university was very poor compared to the one I have now. I think reading so many texts and books in English, with terrible resolution, has made me learn something. For the better, I plan to keep reading my university stuff without tr

Much changes

Personally, there are many things that I would change in the race. Starting with the curriculum, in the specialty of physical anthropology there are very few practical, doing it difficult to learn about bone structure and morphology in detail. The first two years were of a common plan, they would teach us subjects from the three specialties, but practically it was almost all social, the students what wanted archeology and physical anthropology were not considered. The FACSO facilities have improved over time, but there is still much work to be done. The part where the collections are located are not well organized, lack space and order, because very few people work for that area. There is a lack of resources to improve the green areas of the faculty, we have to go to eat at Arts, because it is prettier and less dark to eat. Technology is limited, many tools are missing, which is noticeable when working with bones or archaeological material. The teaching method is very theoretical

Russia

My summer vacations are usually boring and I only dedicate myself to work, but in my free time I go to my mother, she lives near La Unión, a small town between Valdivia and Osorno, but in the countryside, in the middle of a forest. When it is hot, we walk 2 kilometers and reach the river, it is beautiful and all natural without the intervention of man. Once a year, usually for the new year, we all (my brothers and nephews) get together at my mother's house to vacation. We drink, eat, laugh, play, go fishing, exploring and swimming as a family. I think of summer vacation and only a family photo in the country comes to mind, but if I could go where I wanted before I died, I would like to go to Russia in winter. It must be very cold, but it must be very nice to see all white. The famous St. Basil's Cathedral with snow, looks like a real palace from a fairy tale. In general the architecture of Moscow is complex and majestic, this makes it a very touristy place. I would like to trav

My cat

This time I’m going to write about my faithful companion, my cat. My cat is called Hobbes Dimitri Vladimir Vladivostok, his name is very long and powerful, but I did not choose it, so we all call them only Hobbes. He is 7 years old, the first 2 years of his life he was with my sister (she chose the long and powerful name hahaha) and then because of space problems he got to with me and never left again. It is the most tender cat that exists, it has never scratched anyone. All the mornings wake me up to open the bed and sleep next to me. He understands by his name and comes when they call him by his name, he looks like a dog instead of a cat. He is fear of moths and is very bad at fly hunting. Once he took him to the field, expecting him to play, but he only to sleep next to the woodstove. He is fear of moths, but with dogs the story is different, my dad has 3 dogs at home, they are littles and sleep with my younger sister, but in the holidays, the dogs must go to the yard, bec

I don't know

In my academic plans I am to finish my degree early, then work some time to save money, because like many people the money is not enough for me to continue studying immediately. I would like to do a post-graduate degree in archaeology in Chile, I feel that it is a part of anthropology that complements physical anthropology very well and I really like Chilean archaeology, so I would not think about doing it anywhere else. To continue in my area, which is physical anthropology, I must go abroad, because in Chile there are no post graduate degrees of that. I have thought about going to Mexico to study, but as always money is an obstacle, I will have to work hard to achieve it, but I do not lose hope. Working in museums also catches my attention, but it would be one of my last options, to do it well I should take courses in social anthropology, to be able to bring the magic of museums to people and make them want to get closer too. However, even though I have many plans, all my plans are

Corpses and bones

In the present, I'm in the fourth year of physical anthropology, enter the career thinking that I wanted to be part of the PDI and be a forensic anthropologist, over the years, my goals changed, now I like more the bioarchaeology and working with living populations I also like it a lot. In the future, I would like to work for northern Chile, visit and participate in excavations, study of mummies typical of Chile, which are also the oldest in the world, the mummies "Chinchorro".  Archaeology also I like, it is a vital support to be able to understand the ways of life of populations that not exist today. I would like to study archaeology, so that complement physical anthropology.  When I think about work, I just imagine outdoors dig up bones and then studying them, but dig up I have to be an archaeologist,  then for now I can only think about working in the morgue or a lab with corpses and bones, what archaeologists can bring me. Working in museums would also be great. If I

My career, love and hate

Imagen
Choosing my current career was difficult, at school I always liked numbers, I wanted to be an engineer for a long time, in my last year of high school I had a radical change and wanted to study medicine, in the end I never managed to decide which career to study. I went into baccalaureate in science and then I switched to baccalaureate in the humanities, I wanted to do everything at once, everything I liked. At the end of the first year of baccalaureate, a friend introduced me to an archaeology student and told me that anthropology allowed me to do everything, you could be a social anthropologist, health anthropologist, archaeologist, growth, coroner, and many other areas. She was telling things about the career that I really liked, so the next year I went into anthropology, when I walked in, I had doubts about what to mention the choice, but I decided on physics. I love my career, I love bones, but it is unmotivating the little work field that exists in Chile, nobody knows the caree

The best director and the best movie

Imagen
Hayao Miyazaki Hayao Miyazaki is the founder of Studio Ghibli and the best director of Japanese animated films, his films are fantastic and really a work of art. He has had Oscar nominations and   has won many. In 2001, "Spirited Away" was released or as it is known in spanish "El Viaje de Chihiro", at that time I was 3 years old, so I did not know it, but at the age of 10 my sister showed it to me and from that moment that I have been in love with that film. The animation is fluid, detailed and beautiful. It tells the story of a 12-year-old girl who is moving, on her way to her new home she is involved in a world full of magic and supernatural beings, which focuses on hot spring baths for magical beings, her parents are transformed into pigs by touching the food of the guests and she has a mission to rescue them and survive. For away is one of my favorite movies, I have seen it many times and I like it more and more. I recommend them if you have not seen it,

A different journey

Imagen
At the end of 2019 we started this trip, in conjunction with my older sister we took a plane that left us in Peru, when we arrived in Lima the airport did not have air conditioning and there was 98% humidity with fantastic 35 degrees Celsius, so we walked 3 meters and were full of sweat, the worst thing was that we had to wait 12 hours for the next flight, so we decided to go to the bar... to rest and drink water, obviously jiji We arrived in Mexico, after 25 hours of travel! It was Christmas, so the whole city was full of ornaments, lights and carols. We visited many churches, all had gold ornaments and paintings from the time of the Spanish Conquest. The museums were from another world... the Museum of Anthropology, was the one I liked the most, it was giant, they had textiles, ceramics, bones, books, animals and there was an exhibition of Lucy, so it was very entertaining and I learned a lot. I could not go to the pyramids of Tenochtitlan, because it was very expensive, but we wen

New Zealand: A happy country

Imagen
If I had the opportunity to travel somewhere in the world I would choose to go to New Zealand. Before I mention the places, I would like to meet, I want you to know that I don't always like to do the same thing and I get bored easily, so traveling to a country as diverse as New Zealand would be one of the adventures I'd like to do at some point in my life.  I love fantasy and Hobbiton is a ci ty that is full of magic, in it were recorded scenes from the film the Hobbit, has a unique architecture, in addition to experiencing how a magical creature lives ( https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5JrKThVnjso) . Space is one of the most beautiful mysteries and New Zealand has one of the largest astronomical observatories in the world. Its landscapes of forests, lakes, Aurora Borealis, mountains, hot spring, and beaches are one of its greatest attractions. It has a wide variety of animals to get to know and is close to Australia where there are kangaroos and koalas. In the academic topi
